How to Calculate Percent Decrease

To decrease a value by a given percent, multiply the original value by (1 − percent/100).

Result = Original × (1 − Decrease% / 100)

For example, decrease 200 by 20%:

200 × (1 − 20/100) = 200 × 0.80 = 160

Example

Decrease $120 by 10%:

120 × 0.90 = $108
