Formula

Net Hours = (End Time − Start Time − Total Breaks) ÷ 3600 [times in seconds]

Example:

17:00 − 09:00 = 28,800 s − 1,800 s break (30 min) = 27,000 s ÷ 3600 = 7.5 hours

How to Calculate Hours Between Two Times

Formula: Total Seconds ÷ 3600 = Hours

• Example: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM → 28,800 seconds ÷ 3600 = 8 hours

If your end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator automatically treats it as the next day (overnight).

To get decimal hours: add hours and remaining minutes ÷ 60. Example: 8 hours 30 minutes = 8.5 decimal hours.
