Height Comparison

Compare the heights of up to 20 people side by side on a scaled chart, and find the exact height difference between any two of them. Enter heights in feet and inches or in centimeters, add optional names, and pick a figure for each person.

How to Use the Height Comparison Tool

Choose your unit system, set how many people you want to compare, then enter each person's height. Names are optional but make the chart easier to read when you're comparing several people. The figure you pick (male or female) only changes the drawing on the chart — it has no effect on the numbers.

Press Compare Heights to draw the chart. Every figure is scaled to its true height relative to the others, so taller people appear proportionally taller. A dashed line marks the top of each figure against the centimeter scale on the left.

How the Height Difference Is Calculated

When you compare exactly two or three people, the tool also reports the height difference for each pair. The difference is simply the larger height minus the smaller one.

Difference = Taller Height − Shorter Height

Example:

177.8 cm − 160 cm = 17.8 cm

5′ 10″ − 5′ 3″ = 7 inches

In the imperial system, remember there are 12 inches in a foot, so to subtract 5′ 3″ from 5′ 10″ you compare the inch totals: 70 in − 63 in = 7 inches. For four or more people the number of possible pairs grows quickly, so individual differences are not listed — the visual chart does the comparing instead.

Converting Between Feet/Inches and Centimeters

One inch equals exactly 2.54 cm, and one foot is 12 inches (30.48 cm). To convert a height in feet and inches to centimeters, turn it into total inches first, then multiply by 2.54.

cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54

Example:

5′ 10″ = (5 × 12 + 10) × 2.54 = 70 × 2.54 = 177.8 cm
