How to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius
The Fahrenheit to Celsius formula is T(°C) = (T(°F) − 32) × 5/9. Subtract 32 to account for the offset between the two scales, then multiply by 5/9 to scale from Fahrenheit degrees to Celsius degrees.
T(°C) = (T(°F) − 32) × 5/9
Subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit value first, then multiply by 5/9:
T(°C) = (T(°F) − 32) ÷ 1.8
Example
Convert 98.6°F to Celsius:
T(°C) = (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 66.6 × 5/9 = 37°C
